Centro SEIA is highly specialized in the production of solanaceae (tomatoes, peppers, aubergines/eggplants) and cucurbitaceae (melons, watermelons and cucumbers).

All species can be STANDARD and grafted and on rockwool for high-tech cultivation. Centro SEIA is characterized by the use of studied, patented containers in order to guarantee the best rooting of the plants and to reduce to the minimum any microlesions to the roots that cause stress and so the risk of fungal and bacterial diseases.

the containers

Over the last few years Centro SEIA has developed polypropylene containers which give our agriculturists diverse advantages:

  • Polypropylene is a smooth material and unlike polystyrene it is not porous so any type of microlesion to the roots is thereby avoided. In polystyrene, in fact, roots enter the surface pores and are consequently broken during extraction. The absence of microlesions guarantees better health of the root system and reduces the stress in the plants taking root.
  • The innovative conic form with the new grooves has been purposefully studied to give the correct air-water balance in the cube and to improve the rooting of young plants.
  • The use of polypropylene makes the containers stackable and easily recyclable and so much more eco-sustainable than those in polystyrene.

After intense research we can offer 3 types of container/plants:

  • Transplantation seedlings (container from 336 or 180): very young seedlings adapt for the transplanting in the nursery, for rapid rooting in cubes or in large pots.
  • Container from 112: to produce young plants by direct transplantation in the field in the period from mid April to October
  • Container from 45: Larger, stronger seedlings for winter transplantation when climatic conditions do not allow for rapid rooting and the plant and the cube must have some “reserves" to adequately take root in the soil.
